In 2011, I completed a Bachelor of Communications, with a double major of Journalism and Broadcasting at Edith Cowan University. By 2012, I had finished a post-graduate Diploma of Broadcasting at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts.
I officially ventured into the media world in 2012 at 21 years old, starting my career as a video journalist with the WIN News Corporation in Geraldton. After around six weeks of sourcing, gathering, interviewing, filming, editing and voicing news, the company’s financial resources left it with little option but to cut the regional state bulletin and as a result, the majority of its journalist were made redundant, including myself.
After a fascinating job with a local environmental organisation, I was employed by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation later in the year as the news producer for ABC Mid West and Wheatbelt, based in Geraldton. Here I am the sole journalist for the central portion of WA, where I gather news for local, state and national bulletins for radio, online and TV. I read the morning news on radio for the region.
I am a strong believer in quality, creative, hard work.
