Midwest Charity Begins at Home
As a child I was fortunate enough to be brought up with parents who were very community focused.
From a young age I was exposed to and involved in many community activities, ranging from Lions Club working bees, Clean up Australia days and generally helping out family and friends that needed it.
From these humble beginnings now stems my very strong desire to be involved and give back.
Back in 2009 I attended the Mitchell & Brown Charity Begins at Home Gala and was blown away by the generosity of our wonderful community and I knew I had to be involved somehow.I was blessed with the opportunity to join this wonderful group of women (all of whom are Mums and local business women). Since joining the charity I have held the role of Secretary (2010-11) and Treasurer (2012-13).
As a small business owner myself, I am acutely aware of the pressures placed on business in their endeavour to support the community and charitable organisations with finite resources. Being involved in the Charity has helped me appreciate the work that charitable organisations do, and most importantly, how to make sure that our charity has that point of difference and appeal.Midwest Charity Begins At Home is now into it’s 6th successive year and has raised over $769,000 for the Midwest community. Each year we have managed to put together a magical night for everyone to enjoy and appreciate. Each year has provided us with an opportunity to reflect, grow and improve on systems and procedures to ensure that our valued sponsors and supporters have a remarkable event that they will continue to support for years to come.
